P2 & P3 ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STRATEGY + DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

BRIEF

Using information from Phase 1 investigations, students are required to create a unique design plan for a Learning Centre in Brickfields. This entails establishing a design stance, carrying out precedent research, utilising the concepts of tropical architecture, and investigating form, space, and circulation using 1:200 physical models. With an emphasis on place-making, street engagement, and a cogent tropical architectural response, students must refine and resolve the design into a comprehensive architectural proposal in Phase 3, incorporating form, space, façade, structure, services, environmental strategies, and legal requirements.

Reflection

Because urban settings comprise numerous interwoven layers, including economic, political, and social concerns, a great deal of research was necessary to support my ideas during this project. I was first dissatisfied with the location we were given as there weren't many activities there and it seemed more fleeting than another location. But after doing further research, I discovered that design might solve a lot of problems. In addition to utilising a grid, box, and diagonal design language for the first time, the façade recently had to react delicately to the unmaintained and boring surroundings. During the design process, I occasionally thought the building got visually dull, which forced me to reconsider my strategy.
