PROJECT 1C: RECLAIMED ARCHITECTURE: < A DANCE ANNEXE >
BRIEF
Project 1C involves students designing a single-volume architecture for a dance house in Malacca, aiming to reclaim, preserve, and promote local native dance culture. The building sites are located in a developing area of the reclaimed land zone, near the Encore Melaka Theatre. The dance house will be a standalone monolithic building, two storeys above ground level, with a total floor area of 350sqm to 450sqm. The design should be universally accessible, with students choosing one building site for the exercise.
OUTCOME
The individual must examine building construction, materials, and environmental factors, create a small-scale community building, and effectively communicate the design to peers, teachers, and industry architects.

Reflection on Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities (TGC)
Discipline-Specific Knowledge (TGC 1):
The assessments allowed me to apply theoretical concepts to practical scenarios. In Project 1B, understanding the cultural and contextual nuances of the site deepened my grasp of professional practice and ethical design principles. Project 1C enhanced my ability to apply discipline-specific knowledge by creating functional, culturally sensitive architectural solutions.
