Project 1A: Pre-Design Studies & Analysis (Group)
BRIEF
Project 1a- Pre-Design Studies & Analysis In this phase, students in groups are to investigate, study and analyze the site to understand valuable components before designing. The study will enable students to gain familiarity with the site. To be immersed by 'sensing the place' allowing each to look into the current conditions of the site and relate it to the target user and objectives of the project.
OUTCOME
Formulate a comprehensive study and pre-design analysis on site, involving identification. of relevant issues that can be addressed through architectural design interventions in a form of design position and programmatic responses.
P1A FINAL BOARD
P1A was my first experience of the semester working through an architectural project as a group. At the beginning, I found it challenging to combine different ideas, opinions and working styles into one direction. Everyone had their own way of approaching the site and solving problems, so communication and compromise became an important part of the process.
Through the project, I learned that collaboration is not about making everyone agree with the same idea. It is about listening, discussing and selecting ideas that can strengthen the overall project. I also learned to accept criticism from my group members and become more open to changing my own ideas when there was a better solution.
The biggest lesson I gained from P1A was that architecture is not always an individual process. A successful design can come from different perspectives working together. The experience helped me become more confident in communicating my ideas, dividing responsibilities and contributing to a common goal.
