PROJECT 2: PASSIVE GREEN BUILDING STRATEGIES REPORT INTEGRATED WITH ARCHITECTURAL STUDIO PROJECTS
BRIEF
Students are required to develop passive and active green building strategies for their final architectural studio project. They must go for a building green visit, prepare a reflective write-up, and apply passive green building strategies in their tropical building case study. They must also compile and document their processes in A4 reflective write-up and A3 Design Report .
OUTCOME
Investigate how passive sustainable design solutions adapt to varied climates and cultural contexts, and evaluate their impact on spatial quality and user experience.
Apply suitable sustainable design principles to the final architectural proposal.
DESIGN REPORT
REFLECTIVE WRITE UP

Reflection on Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities (TGC)
Intrapersonal Skills (TGC 6):
I became more adept at handling difficulties on my own and using site analysis to inform my design choices thanks to this project. It also gave me more confidence to use sustainable practices to provide an architectural design that is sensitive to context.
Reflection
The project emphasised the role of architecture in addressing environmental issues and integrating with nature. It investigated passive design tactics like as orientation, daylighting, ventilation, façade design, and strategic landscaping in order to reduce energy use and improve spatial comfort. The use of active technologies such as photovoltaic panels and rainwater collection enhanced sustainable design by teaching how to blend technological solutions with experience aspects. The study underlined the importance of creating areas that link consumers to nature while also promoting environmental performance and human well-being.
